Earnings, Revenue Better Than Expected
Williams-Sonoma earned $0.34 a share in the first quarter, beating the $0.32 average analyst forecast. Revenue totaled $817.6 million, also better than the $811.7 million estimate. WSM is up 10 percent in the early session on my tradeMONSTER platform.
Express Drops After Missing Consensus
Apparel chain Express reported per-share profit of just $0.47 on revenue of $496 million. The Street was expecting $0.49 and $503.2 million, respectively. Those misses on the top and bottom lines are taking a toll, sending EXPR lower by 20 percent before the bell
Shaw Sells Assets, Raises Guidance
Shaw Group announced it would sell certain energy and chemical assets to France's Technip for about $300 million in cash. Management also raised full-year earnings guidance to $2.20 to $2.30 a share, up from an earlier estimate of $2.05 to $2.15 million. SHAW climbed 3 percent on the news yesterday evening but hasn't traded yet this morning.
