Netflix earned $0.52 a share, beating the $0.49 average analyst estimate. Guidance for the current quarter is $0.47 to $0.73, compared with the $0.46 consensus number. It added 1.3 million domestic subscribers, thanks to hit shows like "Orange is the new Black." NFLX rallies 9.5 percent before the opening bell on my tradeMONSTER platform.

Pfizer Decision Lifts Pain Therapeutics

Pain Therapeutics was in a world of hurt earlier this year after Pfizer balked at proceeding with plans to market the company's Remoxy drug. But today the pharmaceuticals giant is back on board and will proceed with additional clinical studies. PTIE leaps 23 percent on the news.

Rich Premium for Atomic-Clock Firm

Symmetricom agreed to be purchased by Microsemi for $230 million, or $7.18 a share. That's a huge premium for a company that closed at $4.77 yesterday! SYMM rockets 50 percent in early trading.
