Top, Bottom Lines Better Than Expected

Mattress Firm reported first-quarter profit of $0.38, better than the $0.36 consensus forecast. Sales of $276 million also exceeded the $274.4 million average forecast. Those numbers have MFRM up 6 percent before the bell on my tradeMONSTER platform.

SHFL Entertainment Beats Consensus

SHFL Entertainment earned $0.21 a share on revenue of $77 million. Analysts had only expected $0.20 and $71.6 million, respectively. SHFL gains more than 5 percent in early trading.

Ambarella Climbs Before the Opening Bell

Ambarella earned $0.21 a share on revenue of $33.9 million. Those numbers exceeded the forecasts for profit of $0.15 and revenue of $31.9 million. AMBA, which only went public in October, climbs 6 percent in premarket trading.

The only problem is that in today's market where things move much more quicker than they did just a few years ago, two days could wind up being the majority of the expected movement, if not the whole movement.
