CIEN: SEE CHART GET CHAIN FIND STRATEGIES

Earnings Crush Street Expectations

Ciena earned $0.23 a share in its third quarter, crushing the $0.16 average analyst forecast. Revenue of $538.4 million also beat the Street's $533.5 million number, and guidance was strong going forward. CIEN climbs 9 percent before the opening bell on my tradeMONSTER platform.

Fat Premium For Rochester Medical

C.R. Bard agreed to purchase Rochester Medical for $262 million. The deal values the company at $20 a share and will expand BCR's urology business. ROCM rockets 44 percent on the news.

Francesca's Hammered by Weak Results

Francesca's Holdings reported second-quarter earnings of $0.33 on sales of $89.6 million. Analysts had expected $0.35 and $94.5 million, respectively. Management also cut guidance, citing challenging conditions. FRAN drops 18 percent in early trading.
