Economic data activity will pick up with today's calendar, including retail sales, housing figures, a flash PMI reading, and remarks by Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke.

The schedule begins with the weekly ICSC/Goldman same-stores sales report at 7:45 a.m. ET. The weekly Redbook retail numbers will come out at 8:55 a.m. ET.

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke is scheduled to speak at 8:45 a.m. ET.

The flash purchasing managers index for July will be released at 8:58 a.m. ET. The consensus forecast calls for a reading of 52.6, down from June's 52.9. Estimates range from 51.5 to 53.0.

The FHFA house price index for May is next at 10 a.m. ET. The consensus expectation is a print of 0.3 percent, a decline from April's 0.8 percent. The estimate range is from zero to 0.7 percent.

Also at 10 a.m. ET the Richmond Fed manufacturing index for July will be reported. Analysts on average are expectating a reading of zero, which would be a gain from June's -3. Estimates range from -6 to 1.

Four-week and 52-week Treasury bill auctions are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. ET. A two-year note auction will follow at 1 p.m. ET.
