The SPDR S&P 500 Fund (SPY) has 540,000 options traded, with puts outpacing calls by more than 2 to 1. Next up are the iShares Russell 2000 Fund (IWM) contracts at 194,000, dominated by 170,000 puts.
The PowerShares QQQ Trust (QQQ) has 142,000 options changing hands, also with a put/call ratio of 2 to 1. The CBOE Volatility Index (VIX) has seen more than 120,000 options turn over, with calls outnumbering puts by 3 to 1.
The S&P 500 Index (SPX) has seen 113,000 contracts move, with 82,000 puts. Just behind are the iPath S&P 500 VIX Short-Term Futures ETN (VXX) options at 112,000, with 62,000 calls.
The iShares Emerging Markets Fund (EEM) has 80,000 options traded, with 58,000 puts. The SPDR Gold Shares Fund (GLD) has 65,000, with calls outpacing puts by more than 2 to 1.
