SPY: SEE CHART GET CHAIN FIND STRATEGIES
Total option volume has picked up this morning with 5.6 million contracts with calls and puts about evenly matched in the indexes and ETFs, according to optionMONSTER's data systems.

The SPDR S&P 500 Fund (SPY) has traded 765,000 options, with 456,000 puts. Next on the list are the S&P 500 Index (SPX) options at 304,000, 166,000 of which are puts.

The CBOE Volatility Index (VIX) options have changed hands 161,000 times, with 85,000 puts. Not far behind are the PowerShares QQQ Trust (QQQ) with 145,000, evenly split between calls and puts.

The iShares Russell 2000 Fund (IWM) has 96,000 contracts turning over, with 63,000 puts. Just behind are the iPath S&P 500 VIX Short-Term Futures ETN (VXX) contracts at 93,000, with 53,000 calls. The SPDR Gold Shares Trust (GLD) has option volume of 86,000, with 55,000 calls.
