SPY: SEE CHART GET CHAIN FIND STRATEGIES
Option trading is light today with total volume below 5 million contracts so far, as index and ETF activity suggests widespread hedging.

The SPDR S&P 500 Fund (SPY) has 721,000 options traded, with a put/call ratio of 2 to 1. Next are the SPDR Gold Shares Fund (GLD) with 218,000 contracts changing hands, dominated by 174,000 calls. (See related story)

The S&P 500 Index (SPX) has seen 188,000 contracts move, with 118,000 puts. The iShares Russell 2000 Fund (IWM) has 135,000 options turning over, also with a put/call ratio of 2 to 1. Just behind the PowerShares QQQ Trust (QQQ) volume of 125,000, with 73,000 puts.

The CBOE Volatility Index (VIX) options have traded 85,000 times, with 60,000 puts. The iShares Emerging Markets Fund (EEM) has 81,000 options changing hands, with puts outpacing calls by 10 to 1.
