SPY: SEE CHART GET CHAIN FIND STRATEGIES
Total option volume tops 5.4 million contracts so far today, while index and ETF activity is outdone by huge trading in Apple, according to optionMONSTER's data systems.

AAPL options have turned over 678,000 contracts. The S&P 500 Fund (SPY) follows with 563,000 contracts traded, including 399,000 puts. The PowerShares QQQ Trust (QQQ) has seen 226,000 options move, with 140,000 puts.

The S&P 500 Index (SPX) contracts have changed hands 157,000 times, led by 100,000 puts. Not far behind is the iShares Russell 2000 Fund (IWM) volume at 147,000, with 96,000 puts.

The MSCI EAFE Index Fund (EFA) has 116,000 contracts turning over, with 109,000 puts. The iShares Emerging Markets Fund (EEM) has seen 101,000 contracts trade, with just 5,000 calls.

The iPath S&P 500 VIX Short-Term Futures ETN (VXX) has 75,000 contracts changing hands, with 43,000 puts. Just behind are the CBOE Volatility Index (VIX) options with 74,000, which include 45,000 calls.
