SPY: SEE CHART GET CHAIN FIND STRATEGIES
Total option volume tops 7 million contracts, with puts making up less of the action in the indexes and ETFs than one would expect in a broad market selloff, optionMONSTER's data systems show.

The SPDR S&P 500 Fund (SPY) has 980,000 contracts traded, with a put/call ratio of less than 2 to 1. The iShares Russell 2000 Fund (IWM) is up next with 340,000 options, including 255,000 puts. The PowerShares QQQ Trust (QQQ) has 324,000 contracts turning over, with slightly more puts than calls.

The S&P 500 Index (SPX) has 228,000 contracts changing hands, 131,000 of which are puts. The iPath S&P 500 VIX Short-Term Futures ETN (VXX) options have traded 186,000 times, with 98,000 calls. The CBOE Volatility Index (VIX) has seen 148,000 options move, with 112,000 calls. The iShares Emerging Markets Fund (EEM) has 96,000 options traded, as calls just outpace puts.
