SPY: SEE CHART GET CHAIN FIND STRATEGIES
Option volume is quite light again today at just 4.2 million total contracts, while the typical names top the index and ETF activity, according to optionMONSTER's data systems.

The SPDR S&P 500 Fund (SPY) has seen 515,000 contracts change hands, with puts outpacing calls by more than 2 to 1. The PowerShares QQQ Trust (QQQ) has 200,000 trading, dominated by 157,000 puts. The S&P 500 Index (SPX) has 186,000 options, with just 95,000 puts.

The CBOE Volatility Index (VIX) options have traded 127,000 times, with 91,000 calls. Not far behind are the iShares Russell 2000 Fund (IWM) options at 121,000, also with a put/call ratio of greater than 2 to 1. The iPath S&P 500 VIX Short-Term Futures ETN (VXX) has 57,000 options moving, evenly split between calls and puts.
