SPY: SEE CHART GET CHAIN FIND STRATEGIES
Total option volume is low today with only 3.8 million contracts traded so far, while the typical names dominate the index and ETF activity, according to optionMONSTER's data systems.

The SPDR S&P 500 Fund (SPY) has 504,000 contracts changing hands, 325,000 of which are puts. Next up are the S&P 500 Index (SPX) options with 166,000, also with a put/call ratio exceeding 2 to 1. Not far behind are the iShares Russell 2000 Index Fund (IWM) options at 150,000, with 115,000 puts.

The CBOE Volatility Index (VIX) has 124,000 contracts moving, with more puts than calls. The PowerShares QQQ Trust (QQQ) options total 86,000, with 52,000 puts. The iPath S&P 500 VIX Short-Term Futures ETN (VXX) options have turned over 2,000 times, with slightly more calls than puts. The iShares Emerging Markets Fund (EEM) has seen 51,000 options trade, 30,000 of which are puts.
