SPY: SEE CHART GET CHAIN FIND STRATEGIES
Total option volume is slowing with just 5.7 million contracts as the market holds, while hedging again tops the action in indexes and ETFs, according to optionMONSTER's data systems.

The SPDR S&P 500 Fund (SPY) has 734,000 options traded, with puts outpacing calls by 2 to 1. The PowerShares QQQ Trust (QQQ) is next up with 315,000 contracts and a put/call ratio of 3 to 1.

The CBOE Volatility Index (VIX) has 278,000 options turning over, 195,000 of which are calls. Just behind are the S&P 500 Index (SPX) options at 242,000 and a put/call ratio of 2 to 1.

The iShares Russell 2000 Fund (IWM) has 163,000 contracts changing hands, with 118,000 puts. The iShares Emerging Markets Fund (EEM) sees 92,000 options trade, with slightly more puts than calls. The SPDR Gold Shares Fund (GLD) has 79,000 options traded, 54,000 of which are calls.
