Isn't technology great? I found this UK based firm, USURV, that can do instant polling of their audience for about $40 USD. What they did was ask if the newly unveiled iPhone 5 was cool enough to get them to upgrade. Perhaps not surprising to those of us that know the power of devotion to all things Apple by its true believers, a massive 44 percent of current iPhone owners in Britain plan on upgrading!
Good as that news is for AAPL and its shareholders, the survey also found that 20 percent of Nokia owners and 18 percent of HTC owners in Britain want the new iPhone too. Overall, 20 percent of all smartphone owners said that they wanted to upgrade to the new iPhone 5 without needing any further information about the product.
Samsung devotees are the least likely to choose to leave their Gallaxy II and III smartphones for the iPhone 5, as only 5 percent of owners of Samsung Galaxy smartphones in Britain said they want to switch to the iPhone 5.
Among those polled the biggest draw was the iPhone 5's larger screen, which was deemed as the most appealing by 19 percent of respondents. I was surprised to see that the higher speed Internet access came in second to screen size, as for me, the biggest reason to upgrade was indeed the speed of the 4G LTE.
